Performa Ayam Broiler Jantan Umur 5 Minggu dan Preferensi Ukuran Partikel Pakan Berbasis Bungkil Kelapa

Sebuah penelitian telah dilakukan untuk mempelajari pengaruh berbagai ukuran partikel pakan berbasis bungkil kelapa (BK) yang dipelet terhadap performa ayam broiler jantan dan hubungan antara dimensi paruh ayam broiler dan preferensi ukuran partikel pakan. Penelitian ini dilakukan selama 5 minggu. Ayam broiler diberikan 3 jenis pakan percobaan: (1) jagung-kedelai dengan distribusi berbagai ukuran partikel (<1,0, 1,0-2,0, 2,0-2,8, 2,8-4,0, >4,0 mm) (JKC), (2) pakan halus dengan 30% BK (BKH), dan (3) campuran berbagai ukuran partikel pakan 30% BK (BKC). Konsumsi dan konversi pakan, pertambahan berat badan, dimensi paruh, dan preferensi ukuran partikel diukur sebagai parameter. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan tiga perlakuan pakan dan enam ulangan kandang. Setiap kandang terdiri dari enam ekor ayam. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis varians. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ayam broiler yang diberi pakan JKC dan BKC lebih berat (P<0,05), konsumsi pakan lebih tinggi, dan memiliki ukuran paruh lebih besar dari pada ayam yang diberi pakan BKH. Ayam broiler lebih menyukai pakan dengan ukuran partikel >4,0 mm. Ayam broiler menunjukkan preferensi terhadap ukuran partikel yang sesuai dengan 33% lebar paruhnya. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa ayam broiler yang diberi pakan JKC dan BKC meningkat performanya, dan pakan dengan ukuran partikel yang setara dengan 33% lebar paruh sangat disukai oleh ayam broiler.
